Description
Sesamum indicum
Sesame is an annual plant of the pedialaceae family. Considered to be the oldest oilseed crop known to humanity, domesticated well over 3 000 years ago. The seeds are of varying colours: white, yellow, brown and black. The seeds contain about 50% oil, which is rich in unsaturated fatty acids. It has a pleasant nutty taste and is used in multiple preparations as a puree, on bread, cookies and confectionery.
